The majority of the SHH country is bounded to the
north and east by the river Wye, to the south by the Monnow and to the
west by the Black Mountains. There is a considerable proportion of
arable but a good deal of grass towards the mountains. A number of
wooded ridges now support commercial shoots but hounds enjoy good sport
and on most days the field are able to cross country which has recently
benefited from the construction of many new hunt jumps. The hunt country has a maximum length of 26
miles and a depth of 15 miles with Hereford, Ross on Wye, Monmouth and
Hay on Wye at its peripheries.
Meets takes place on Tuesdays and Saturdays
and we welcome visitors mounted or on foot. |
